Janus-head day

It's been a long December
and there's reason to believe
maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember all the times I try to tell myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
--Counting Crows, "A Long December"
My one and only resolution for 2006:

To become a better, more successful writer, without forgetting how to live.

Oh, and go to the dentist.

I'll need a ride to the dentist, since I'll have to be seriously sedated in one way or another.

I recommend a nice Irish single malt whiskey [or some poitin].

Ah, my favorites. Any specific distilleries you like? I just finished a two-year-old bottle of Jameson 12 the other day.

CLONTARF is a nice single malt. Poitin is more difficult to find unless you know someone going to the mountains in Donegal.

There is one I've found for sale in the States, although not like the homemade stuff. It's bottled by Bunratty Winery in Co Clare and called Bunratty Potcheen. Imported by Camelot Importing of Old Bridge, NJ.

Thanks for the recs, Jim. Happy New Year!

If it's a single malt you want, why not Scotch? Lagavulan 16 or Macallan 12.

I'd like to try both, all, whatever. Overall, I slightly prefer Scotch to Irish whiskey, but not as much as I used to.
