Dear Oprah,

In case you're feeling a bit gunshy after your ordeal with James Frey's Million Little Pieces, I'd like to assure you that my upcoming novel, Eyes of Crow (Luna Books, November 2006), a story about a young woman whose Guardian Spirit has given her the power to foresee the approach of death, is 100% Fiction. Though we have the same color hair and share a deep and abiding love for cheese, Rhia and I are not the same person. Your unabashed praise for it on the Larry King Show (if you feel so inspired) will never come back to bite you in the ass.

Please let me know to what address I should send the novel and whether I should inscribe it to "Oprah" or "Ms. Winfrey." Have a splendid day, ma'am.

Love, Jeri

Oh that is just too funny. I had to wait until I stopped laughing so hard to answer.:-) As for a critique of your work, I have a letter from Catherine Asaro praising it. She's how I found you in the first place since Luna has only released this year's titles through April so far and your 1st book isn't due until the end of the year. Really looking forward to it though.

Dear Ms. Smith-Ready,

I would love to feature your completly fiction book in my book club. Lord knows I need something to shore up my reputation after that last fiasco. Ah, are there any characters based on real people? No George W. Bush satires. Can't be too careful these days.

Sincerely,
Ms. WInfrey

(OK, really Cecilia)

Hi, Kathy. You have a letter from Catherine? She's such a sweetie. Here's a list of all the upcoming Luna books, as well as some others in the same genre, through 2006 and some of 2007. It's the first online confirmation I've had that it's real.

And Oprah, I assure you that no characters are based on real people. Except the really beautiful, svelte, brilliant best friend of the heroine, a character whom I named Opruh.

Thanks so much. I wrote all the titles down. This is so cool.:-)

That site has more info farther in advance than any other I've seen. Someone there must have an insider's scoop at the publishers.
