Reader WVMP playlist & another triple giveaway!

Tomorrow morning I'm burrowing into my Super Secret Writer Cave to finish this short story and then start rewriting/revising Shift, so I won't be online much between now and July 19.

But I wanted to give away another signed set of Wicked Game and Bad to the Bone, once again in preparation for the July 27 release of Bring on the Night. Last week's winner of the signed copies (plus a copy of Shannon Delaney's werewolf novel 13 to Life) was...Angel!

This week's special feature is a playlist that my Facebook page administrator, Jennzah Morris, made for me after reading an early copy of Bring on the Night. Most of the songs, she says, apply to the series as a whole, but a few are particularly pertinent to the upcoming installment (I won't say which, to avoid giving spoiler-y hints):

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

I think it rocks, and I'm so touched that she thought enough about the books and their connection to music to make up an entire playlist.

By the way, I am compiling a playlist for Shade made up of reader-suggested songs, including this PERFECT one suggested by a Facebook page "liker." Here are the lyrics to "Postcards" by this wonderful Irish band, The Blizzards.

I'd love to do a similar reader-built soundtrack for the WVMP series. So to enter to win signed copies of Wicked Game and Bad to the Bone plus a special bonus prize (see below):

1. Suggest a song for a WVMP series soundtrack (each song worth 3 entry chances, up to 5 songs).

OR/AND

2. Suggest a song for a Shade soundtrack. (each song worth 2 entry chances, up to 5 songs)

OR/AND

3. Tell me which songs make you think of other books or movies. (each song worth 1 entry chance, up to 5 songs)

Prize: signed copies of Wicked Game and Bad to the Bone, PLUS a $15 iTunes gift card.

Retail value: $30.98

Deadline: Monday, July 5, 11:59pm eastern.

U.S. Residents only (sorry, it's a legal thing).

Can't wait to hear your suggestions. As they say in radio, thanks for listening!

Yay, Jennzah!

Jaime, you are brilliant, because "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" is actually on MY version of the SHADE playlist here:

Haha that's awesome! I swear I didn't peek first either ;) by the way when do we get out street team stuff?

Posted by: Blogger Jaime at 6/28/2010 10:24 PM

Some of the Street Team packets have gone out (it basically went alphabetical order by first name), but I ran out of SHADE bookmarks and when the printer sent more, they had accidentally printed them upside down (the back with respect to the front), so I'm waiting for the reprints to arrive. :-( Sorry for the wait!

For some reason Wicked Ways by Garbage seems it would go well with the WVMP series to me.

And She Was by Talking Heads for Shade
Pepper by Butthole Surfers for Shade
Amazing Grace by Dropkick Murphys for Shade

For SHADE, the Eric Clapton song about meeting in heaven--I am terrible at remembering song names :-)
For WVMP, Should I Stay or Should I Go Now (Is that the Kinks? I don't think so, but around that era. Terrible at band names, too...)

i have a song for BOTN... "Bodies" by Robbie Williams, even though it's not something ANYONE at WVMP would listen to..... but it makes me think of the penultimate battle in the book. (WHICH EVERYONE SHOULD READ).

my favourite bit in the song is where Robbie has a CHOIR singing "Jesus didn't die for you...." it reminds of Ciara and her anti-holy beliefs :)

I've been listening to a certain song non-stop the past few days and I think it might blend well with Shade:

Old White Lincoln - Gaslight Anthem

Amber

For Shade I would have:
Battles by The Line

And Jonathan Low by Vampire Weekend for WVMP.

I can't wait for bring on the night
and Shift to come out.

Playlist WVMP
-Scars -Papa roach
-Last Resort-Papa roach
-Kryptonite-3 doors down ( my favorite song ever)

seems something Shane would like

Playlist for Shade
-Roses-The Meg and Dia band
-Your Guardian angel-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
-Stolen-Dashboard confessions
-I will follow you into the dark-Death cab for cutie
-Don't you know you're beautiful-Seabird

ciara seems like a kind of gal that would love any song from Within Temptation. Every time I hear them it reminds me of her

No need to enter me but I wanted to add these songs that I heard this morning on my walk that just instantly reminded me of Aura & Logan.....
Matt Nathanson - Come on Get Higher
The Honorary Title - Stay away (this one actually reminds me of their relationship both before and after Logan dies)
As for WVMP - as I have said many times listening to the Metric CD Fantasies is like reading Wicked Game to me. Gimme Sympathy and Collect Call are just two of the songs that spring to mind & even though I haven't read BOTN yet - just by your description the song Blindness seems apt.

Posted by: Blogger Karen at 7/05/2010 10:10 AM

Elizabeth, you absolutely rock, because as it turns out, both "Kryptonite" and "Last Resort" are chapter titles in BRING ON THE NIGHT (Chapters 3 and 26, respectively). Great minds think alike! (or at least, minds that really like Papa Roach and old 3 Doors Down).

Thanks to everyone who suggested songs--I will definitely check out the ones I don't know. This'll really come in handy to inspire me as I (re)write SHIFT and write LET IT BLEED (the almost-official title of WVMP Book 4).

The winner is...Jaime! Congrats! Jaime, I already have your e-mail, so I'll contact you shortly for your address.

Thanks again to everyone who commented. There'll be another Triple Giveaway this week, so stay tuned. We'll be kickin' it Zombie Style!
