WVMP Schedule 2011-2012

Hey, folks! Just wanted to give you an update on what's to come on the WVMP RADIO front. I'm happy to announce that I will have the chance to give the series the Final Ultimate Mega-Happily Ever After ending (FUMHEA, as we say in the industry, as of just now) I've been dreaming of (and that Ciara and Shane deserve, dontcha think?).

The fourth and final full-length novel, LUST FOR LIFE, will be published in Fall 2012.

*Cue Iggy Pop*

I realize that's a little bit of a schedule shuffle, since Book 3, Bring on the Night, was released in 2010, so to tide you over this year, I have something special planned.

On July 26, 2011, I will begin posting a free serial novella, "Let it Bleed," here on my website. I'll put up one chapter per week for about twenty weeks. Then in January 2012, I'll offer it as an e-book with special bonus material (deleted scenes with commentary, etc.).

"Let it Bleed" will be from Ciara's point-of-view and will take place immediately after the end of Bring on the Night. It will also feature the teen couple from "Thief" in the Eternal anthology. Lots of readers have told me they're dying to know what happens to Cass and Liam after the end of that story.

I also hope, before the end of the series in Fall 2012, to post the "origin stories" of Regina and Noah, to complete the cycle, and then release all six together in an omnibus Kindle edition.

Here are the links for the existing stories, complete with play-along soundtracks for your reading/listening pleasure:

Monroe
Spencer
Jim
Shane

Regina's will be the easier of the remaining two, since I was actually in London in the late eighties when she was turned. But Noah is from Jamaica, which I've never visited. Sigh...I guess I'll just have to go there to do research. The sacrifices I make for you people!

Speaking of research travel, I might write a story about Ciara's childhood/teenage years on the Great Plains, after I go on a stormchasing tour with my brother this spring.

If I get sucked up into a twister, I guess that'll be a story in itself. Just not one I'll live to tell.

To review, here is the WVMP schedule for 2011-2012:

July 26-December 2011: "Let it Bleed," serial novella, free here on the website
January 2012: "Let it Bleed" available on Amazon Kindle
Spring and/or Summer 2012: Regina and/or Noah's origin story
Fall 2012: Fourth and final novel, Lust for Life (published by Pocket Books, who brought you Wicked Game, Bad to the Bone, and Bring on the Night).

Have a good weekend!

2011 should be very interesting with the serial.

Congrats! I'm so pleased that you get to finish off the series as you'd planned/hoped!

This is amazing news! And it is nice that you have figured out something special to keep us satisfied until the final book comes out in the FALL of 2012. However, I too am bummed we won't be able to have a print copy of Let It Bleed for our collections. I LOVE novellas! Obviously, if it wasn't such a fantastic series, which I am feeding down the throats of every bookclub friend I have, it wouldn't be such a big deal. =) Alas, I will have to break down and get a Kindle this year aye?!

I am with Jennzah and Kasey. I was so looking forward to my own copy of Let it Bleed. But I will take these vamps (i.e. Shane) any way I can get them (him). Now I just have to go out and get me an E reader... Oh the things I do for you authors... :) <3

Thanks, everyone! The Kindle-less (Kindle-free?) have no need to worry--the novella will be here on my website as well, at least for the six months that it's running, maybe longer. I wanted to make sure those without Kindles still had access to the whole WVMP story! :-)

Plus I'll probably do something fun and interactive with the serial itself. Details to come!

What are the chances of a post-meeting Ciara story from Shane's POV?

Pwease?

Well I'm excited! It's so generous to give away LET IT BLEED. Thank you! I wanted to have a published version but there's SHIFT in may so I'll get a new Jeri Smith-Ready book on my shelf this year :D

I believe I will take my sister up on her offer of her other Kindle now....what if one has a Nook? I will definitely be on site to pick up the chapters here. Thank you for the 'fix'.

Oh wow - how the heck did I miss this post?? I'm kind of surprised. Do you mind if asked what brought that about? Wasn't the plan for Let it Bleed to be published? Does it change the story you wrote at all?
I like the idea of the serial story for it though. I just followed another book the same way for about 30 weeks and it was fun.I am of course thrilled that Ciara & Shane will have their HEA and I'm also happy to hear more from Cass & Liam from Thief.
Do wish I had it in print though for the set :-(

I'm curious -- since I assume you'd have to do formatting for the Kindle anyway, wouldn't it be just as easy to release it in other ebook formats? I believe .epub is pretty popular. Programs like Scrivener provide can very clean, easy-to-format .epub files. Those of us with non-Kindle readers would thank you ;)

Similarly, why not publish LET IT BLEED + WVMP-related origin/short stories as a (mass-market?) paperback with Lulu? Since there's obviously some interest in it, based from these comments, you might be able to get some extra cash from it. I know I'd love to be able to put it with the rest of the series *g*

Take these as questions/suggestions, not demands, please -- I'm sure you're stressed enough as it is! It must be really frustrating to overhaul/(re-)write novels like this so late in the game. Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop and for so generously sharing the LET IT BLEED novella. I can't wait to read it! :)
