Sneak peek at SHIFT & the last ARC giveaway--this Sunday, Sunday, SUNday!

Hey everyone! By now you might be wondering why I haven't posted the first chapter of Shift.

There are a few possibilities you might have considered:

A) The chapter has undergone some last-minute tweaking.
B) I'm lazy.
C) I'm cruel.
D) I forgot.
E) My dog ate it.
F) My cat ate it.
G) All of the above (it is technically possible).
H) None of the above

The answer is H! None of the above. The real reason is the opposite of C. Not only am I not being cruel by withholding Shift Chapter One, I'm being kind. (And not in a "Cruel to be Kind" sort of way, like in that song, which will now be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.)

Because when you get to the end of the first chapter, you're going to freak. If you thought the end of Shade was a killer cliffhanger (which I swear it wasn't meant to be, but that's another discussion), then Shift Chapter One will make you punch a hole through your computer screen.

So I've been holding off in order to minimize your time between reading the excerpt and reading the rest of the book, which comes out May 3. Because I love you and want to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.

But alas, my kindness has run out. This Sunday, just before the spring equinox at 11:21PM Universal Time (which I believe is 7:21 Eastern Daylight time), I will send out the Winter Issue of my newsletter. It will contain a secret link to the first chapter of Shift, a link that I won't make public for another week.

And that's not all! The last two autographed, personalized Shift ARCs will go to two randomly drawn newsletter subscribers. I will draw the names at 6pm Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday.

To subscribe to my quarterly, text-based, non-spammy, entertaining-in-a-weird-way newsletter, just add your e-mail to the signup box on the blog sidebar (or any page on my website) and click "Submit." The mailing list robot will send you a confirmation e-mail to make sure someone else hasn't signed you up as a prank (not that anyone would--I'm sure your friends are all really nice).

Hope to talk to you Sunday! (Notice I resisted the urge to say "Meet Me on the Equinox," thus avoiding the Twilight movie soundtrack reference. Well, I said it here, but that doesn't count. Does it?)

I already subscribe, of course. (Because that's just the kind of person I am.) Will subscribing again under an assumed name (like, say, Dr. Horrible) get me two chances to win an ARC? Because that would make it worth dealing with the split personality issues...

Deborah: Actually, yeah, subscribing under more than one e-mail address will increase your chances. You're a crafty one!

Misty: Yep, there'll be a playlist for SHIFT! Plus a few before then: on April 5, I'll be posting my "Readers Playlist" for SHADE (to celebrate the release of the trade paperback). Then each Tuesday between then and the release I'll be posting playlists Logan made for Aura (which are listed near the beginning of SHIFT). Fun!
