NYX in the HOUSE OF NIGHT out today!

Hey, out of nowhere, the first of two release days for me this week!

If you're a fan of PC Cast and Kristin Cast's House of Night YA vampire series like I am, you don't want to miss this gorgeous new anthology of essays exploring aspects of the series.

Nyx in the House of Night: Mythology, Folklore, and Religion in the P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast Vampyre Series is a collection of writings by paranormal authors and experts in the field.

It's full of fascinating discussions that shed light on the series' complex world-building, plus some beautiful illustrations. My own essay touches on Kalona and his similarities to another fallen immortal I have some experience with (fictionally, I mean)--Lucifer himself.

I signed copies of Nyx in the House of Night at BookExpo a couple weeks ago, along with fellow YA authors Jana Oliver and Trinity Faegen. I also snagged a triple-signed copy just for you. See below for how to win.

But first, a little more about the book. Here's the full table of contents:

"Introduction: Nyx in the House of Night" --P. C. Cast
"Night in the House of Good and Evil: Nyx's portrayal in the HoN series" -- Karen Mahoney
"The Dangerous Dead: Vampire Mythology in the HoN series" -- John Edgar Browning
"By Their Marks You Shall Know Them" (on tattoos) -- Jana Oliver
"The Divine Cat" -- Ellen Steiber
"Reimagining 'Magic City': How the Casts Mythologize Tulsa” -- Amy H. Sturgis
"The Magic of Being Cherokee" -- Jordan Dane
"Freedom of Choice: Kalona, A-ya, and the Raven Mockers" -- Jeri Smith-Ready
"The Otherworld Is Greek to Me" -- Trinity Faegen
"The Elements of Life" -- Bryan Lankford
"Misunderstood: Multiple Partners in our Matriarchal (and Patriarchal) Past" -- Kristin Cast
"She Is Goddess: Goddess Worship in the HoN Series" -- Yasmine Galenorn
"Worshipping the Female Deity" -- Christine Zika
"Cruithne Mythology and the House of Night" -- P. C. Cast
Behind the House of Night Names

To enter to win this triple-signed copy of Nyx in the House of Night, answer the question SmartPop asked me in a recent interview:

If you were any character in the House of Night series, which would you be?

Wow! Nobody in that series is safe. I'd probably go w/Aphrodite b/c @ least she has Darius to protect her.

I'd want to be Z! I mean, Erik, Heath, and Stark!?! They are all worth the extra baggage she has to go through. And, she kicks ass! ;o)

I would definitely want to be Zoey! She is awesome and a kick-a$$ person.

I would say Aphrodite because I love her name and attitude!

Zoey but with a hint of Aphrodite's attitude ;)

Ohh, I can't wait to read this book! Thanks for the giveaway!

Who would I want to be? Zoey has too much love drama going on, Aphrodite is Aphrodite, Stevie Rae has some weird drama going on (lol), so I think I would go with Erin. She's there for Zoey, but she is also out of most of the drama (well, for now anyways)!

I would go with Zoey.

Aphrodite. She's my favorite character, and she has a HOT warrior standing by her side.

I'd probably say Erik, because I think he was the right one for Zoe, but being any one of the vampyres would be pretty awesome.

I'd say Aphrodite because she is the only one who seems to have her stuff together. She has developed as a person and character real nicely. She is 100% real and her. She is true to whom ever she is with and doesn't try and rationalize flip flopping bed buddies.

I would be Queen Sgiach. She's awesome. She trains all the warriors on her island. That's pretty bad ass. I betcha she has an interesting back story.

I love (almost) everyone in that series and once upon a time, I would have said Nyx, until she went off the deep end mid-way through, but now I've gotta say Zoey. She takes everything in stride and just keeps up her strength and protects her friends and family no matter what!
