Logan's Forever 17 party + two new ENTHRALLED giveaways!

Hey! My author friend Tara Kelly is hosting a book and music giveaway over on her blog to celebrate her upcoming release, AMPLIFIED, which comes out next week. Enter to win a signed copies of her new book, Stephanie Kuehnert's I WANNA BE YOUR JOEY RAMONE (which you know I adore), or ENTHRALLED: PARANORMAL DIVERSIONS. Plus mix CDs and swag from all of us! Ends October 25.

Also, Logan wrote a rather, um, cheeky takedown of the Loch Ness Monster myth over as part of All Things Urban Fantasy's month-long Spooky Legends series. Read it, comment, and enter to win a signed copy of Enthralled. Ends November 5.

(Edited to add new giveaway! Karen at For What It's Worth and Brooke from Brooke Reports just posted an interview with Logan and a winner's-choice book giveaway in honor of Logan's birthday. For every comment on the interview, Karen will donate $1 to VH-1's Save the Music Foundation, up to $50. Ends October 30.)

SO...on to the PARTY!

If you've read SHADE, you know that Logan Keeley, the main character Aura's boyfriend, dies just a few minutes after his seventeenth birthday (and if you haven't read it, you can gather that much from the back cover copy, so I'm not giving away a spoiler). That day has arrived! Or it will, tomorrow, October 18.

Also, Logan will be taking a brief vacation from Twitter, for at least a few weeks while I finish Shine. The full story lies in one of his conversations with Zachary (the one from the night of October 14), which have become very popular and, well, very time-consuming, as much as I love them.

So I'm hosting a #Forever17 Twitter party with the luminous Team Kilt--the girls have something fun planned, I don't know what yet--to celebrate Logan's birthday and departure in style.

You might remember last month's BRIDGE party? This'll be much like that, except instead of poems, the theme will be MUSIC. After all, Logan died right after his best ever performance with the Keeley Brothers.

Here's the schedule (all times are for Tuesday, October 18):

All day (12:01am-11:59pm Eastern time): Tweet a music video (either an existing one or one you made) to Logan @keeley_logan and include the #forever17 hashtag. If you're not on Twitter or won't be around tomorrow, please leave your link in the comments to this post.

Prize: a signed (by me) copy of Enthralled (hardcover if going to a US address, otherwise paperback). Winner will be drawn at random.

Winner: Lauren Goff (@FearofLung)!

9pm: Logan will come online to watch his videos, chat with fans, and generally be a dork.

10pm-midnight: Zachary will join him for another #SHADEboys chat. (I know, this all sounds very weird to those not on Twitter, and even those who are but who don't pretend that fictional characters are real people.)

1. a Keeley Brothers coffee mug, plus a SHADE swag pack. Winner: @jderucki!
2. Logan's "Sucks to Be a Ghost (Sometimes)" playlist, gifted to the winner as an iMix, plus a SHADE swag pack. Note: iTunes only lets me gift playlists to US residents, so in the event someone outside the US wins Prize #2, they'll get #3 instead. Winner: @kristyzee!
3. Your choice of CD from the artists on Logan's "Sucks to Be a Ghost (Sometimes)" playlist, plus a SHADE swag pack. Note: single CDs only, no box sets or anything crazy like that. Maximum retail value of CD = $15. Winner: @avonbernabe!

Winners, please send your mailing addresses to me at jeri AT jerismithready DOT com. Please note in your message which prize you won (description, not just the number), and allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. And THANK YOU for hanging out with us!

Winners will be drawn randomly from those who use the #SHADEboys hashtag from 10pm-11pm Eastern (it gets to be too cumbersome to count the hundreds of tweets in two hours). I'll contact winners on Wednesday, October 19.

The SHADE swag packs currently include (all swag is signed):

-Bookmarks for US and UK covers of SHADE and SHIFT
-Personalized bookplates for SHADE and SHIFT
-Keeley Brothers button
-ENTHRALLED postcard

But this time they'll have something extra! I picked up these mini-buttons at the pirate store on the waterfront in Seattle.

The one on the left says, "I never met a banned book I didn't want to read," the one on the right says, "Don't make me go all CAPS LOCK on your ass!" (which is appropriate, if you know the way Logan tweets, either lower case or ALL CAPS), and the one in the middle is a skull-and-crossbones with a cute red bow and a missing tooth.

In case you couldn't tell from the picture.

Thanks for supporting the books, and I hope you have fun tomorrow!

Girlfriends' Cyber Circuit Tour - Kristina Springer

This week's Girlfriends Cyber Circuit feature is the latest yummy treat from Kristina Springer. Just Your Average Princess came out last Tuesday from FSG/Macmillan, and it sounds delicious!

Jamie Edwards has loved everything about growing up on a pumpkin patch, but ever since her cousin Milan Woods arrived, things have really stunk. Jamie can’t imagine it was easy for Milan to leave her life back in Los Angeles and move to Average, Illinois, population one thousand. But it’s kind of hard to feel sorry for her since (a) Milan’s drop-dead gorgeous; (b) she’s the daughter of two of Hollywood’s hottest film stars; (c) she’s captured the attention of everyone in town, including Danny, Jamie’s crush since forever; and (d) she’s about to steal the title of Pumpkin Princess right out from underneath Jamie!

Praise for Just Your Average Princess:

“This cheerful and heartwarming novel set in a small town will appeal to teens who enjoy YA chick lit.” --VOYA

“It was such a quick and cute read! The dialogue contained a generous amount of wit and snark. As a fan of both, it heightened my enjoyment of Just Your Average Princess even more. I really enjoyed Kristina Springer’s style of writing as well as the cast of characters she created in Just Your Average Princess.”--The Fiction Enthusiast

“Springer does an excellent job capturing the fall setting, and describing the pumpkin patch. So much so, that I found myself wishing I could find the place and go there! Overall, this is a fun lighthearted read that is sure to entertain. Definitely a perfect fit for the season.”--Melissa from Goodreads, Teen Librarian

About the author:

Kristina Springer is also the author of The Espressologist, a Society of School Librarians International Book Award Honor Book, and My Fake Boyfriend is Better Than Yours, which Meg Cabot calls, “Irresistible as a fluffy kitten. I laughed out loud and so will you!” You can visit her online at, follow her on Twitter @TinaSpringer, or friend her on Facebook at

And now, my interview with the lovely Kristina!

Which moment(s) during the writing/rewriting/editing of this book made you tear your hair out?

Line edits. Line edits always get to me!

Turn to page 99 of your latest novel. Which word on that page best evokes your story or main character?

Pumpkin Princess (sorry, couldn’t narrow down to one!)

Which book/movie/TV show have you recently discovered that made you want to kick yourself for not reading/watching sooner?

It was really about a year ago but Real Housewives of New York. I thought how did I watch the rest of the cities and not this one when this one is so good?

If your house was on fire, what object (not including living creatures, human or non-human) would you grab on the way out?

Laptops, USBs, iphone, and wallet.

Have you ever been starstruck when meeting another writer? If so, by who?

Yes, Meg Cabot and Lauren Myracle!

Congrats to Kristina on her new release! Now, I'm off to buy some pumpkin pie.
